Hey All,
I have a Windows TSM server running 6.3.4.300. This server has thousands of
damaged files from a power outage we had a few months ago. Is there any way to
delete these files or get rid of these files?
If they are damaged they can't be used for anything like a restore anyway.
You can try audit of the various volumes.
Also, if you are using Deduplication, there is a know problem of TSM losing the
source data on versions prior to 6.3.2.01.

Hi all,
After a mass restore attempt pulling from 800+ volumes I've got a bunch of
files from various volumes showing up with a show damaged, 452 bad bitfiles, of
which a whole lot more files impacted.
Is there a way to tell TSM to retry the reads of the bitfiles? When I try to

I think the supported way would be to Audit the volume in question with
fix=yes. When TSM finds the damaged files on the volume in question it
will delete them and they will be replaced on the next backup stg.

Adrian,
Just delete the volume from the copy storage pool and TSM will takecare of
the rest. In short, TSM will backup the data from the primary pool to the
copy storage pool.

There's far more going on in the server than we as customers will
ever know about. :-)

Hi,
If you implemeted copy stg pools the "audit vol fix=yes" will only mark the
damaged files as damaged in the database. The restore vol will copy the
damaged files from copy stg pool volumes back into the primary pools and the
volume that countained the damaged files will be returned

After migrating our entire datastore from DLT to LTO2, I have discovered
a bunch of damaged files that did not migrate to their new storage pool
cleanly. (It's possible they may have been damaged already)
I started getting these errors, which I'd never seen before:
ANR1330E The
I had a tape set to read-only access Sunday due to
excessive read errors. I started an audit volume
yesterday about 1:00pm. It's still running as of
11:00 am, and has found about 30 damaged files so far.
I'm not pleased that the audit volume is still
running almost 24 hours later,
Andy,
Recently we are seeing that quite a few tapes are going in to the error state and having damaged files. (Even before I can complete the stgpool backup.) Now these files need to be regenerated. Now, If I had a lookup table I could create a list of the damaged files thru one command instead

Hello,
I want to get information with select statement similar to:
query contents volume_name damaged=yes.
There is no column for damaged files with select * from contents.
Perhaps there is one someplace else ? (Not on select * from archives neither).
Thank you
