said originally, this is a data area, not log or database.
The doc ("The Advantages of Using Journal File System Files", page 385,
TSM Administrators Guide V5.1 GC32-0768-00) makes it clear that you can

the mirroring between two Raw LV's
Obviously TSM supports only DB & Log volumes mirroring. The mirroring of
the random access volumes should be done by hardware or at OS level.

usage. I must say, that because of ease, I have always used raw LV's and
never had a problem, and get very good performance.
