Currently, BRMS has a 3494 and TSM has its own (in different locations). We are
bringing the AS/400s into this data centre. The AS/400 people WILL NOT share the
library unless we get "proof" that it can be done successfully. (Sharing will take
less floor space and give us high availability for t
As long as you're only sharing the library and not the drives, this is
straightforward. The machine with the 3592 drives will have a separate set
of categories, I used 400 and 401, which is its way of determining
ownership. If you're planning on sharing the drives, you want to set up a

Re: Windows TSM server and sharing 3494 ATL across SAN
Windows does the device number assignment.
According to the doc for the Windows TSM server,
you use the TSM SCSI drivers for 3590 drives with a T
arted guide for Windows TSM 5.2.
If you're still on 5.1, forget I mentioned it...

Zoltan,
My Windows is Win
590's,
or Windows will try to grab them at boot time.
Don't know if that applies to Win3K or not, but take a look...

Is this a workable configuration ?
So far, all of my attempts at making this work, say it isn't.
The major problem is that as soon as I enable the 3494/3590E1A drives on
the Windows box (2003), I start getting "drive inaccessibilty" failures on
the AIX TSM server. The SAN connection is via Qlogi

Thomas,
If you have only one TSM server, be it W2K or UNIX, sharing with the
mainframe, then you'll need to:
1. define that server as a host on the 3494 library controller
2. define the library on the TSM server as LIBT=349X SHARED=YES
3. define a 3590 device class
4. define a path to each drive in

Keep an eye on who is using what tapes so that both machines aren't thinking
that a particular tape is theirs.
