Keep in mind that Netware volumes have a feature for compressing the
actual files located on disk. Is the process running uncompressing
Netware-compressed files, then recompressing them via TSM? I've had
issues several years ago where this was the case.

Hmm. Given that, and whereas it takes 10x longer for the client to
do backups with compression than without, does your client backup
log show retries with compression? I'm wondering if it's something
like having COMPRESSAlways No in effect
Hi John,
thank you for your prompt answer.
The client machine are very powerfull because they are used as file and print
servers for
over 500 users. (Compaq ProLiant Server)
The same machines are used as Notes Servers under Windows NT and the compression
works.
The solution cannot be to use more
Look at idlewait (client think time and compression time, comm wait (network
time), and media wait (TSM server time) in the accounting log
(server-dir/dsmaccnt.log - you may need to SET ACCOUNTING ON)
Then you can definitely see where the slowdown is. Compression on a low-end
client will slow th
Juergen,
Looks like your client machines are not powerful enough.
