Look at
Look at the MAXIMUM SCRATCH VOLUMES ALLOWED parameter of the archive
tape pool. It will probably be equal to the number of tapes already in
the pool. Increase it.

Jack,
Do you have client side compression switched on
on these clients?
We sometimes get this message when compression is on but
compressalways is yes (default). What happens is that
a file grows during compression and doesn't fit
in the space the server has reserved for it.
Best reagards,
Alex

Geoff,
I deal primarily with backups directly to tape and have seen this error message
when the number of tapes in the volume is equal to the Maximum Scratch Volumes
Allowed parameter for that storage group. I increase this value and backups go
on. It might be helpful to see the storage pool det

It4s possible that the storage pool reached its maximun capacity while the
backup was running and failed, and after this the expiration process began.
It can be the reason witch the storage pool is not full.

This is caused by the client (or agent) not requesting enough pre-allocated
space in the diskpool for the data that it "actually" needs to send. We ran
into this on both Tandem clients and SQL agents. On the SQL there is an
"estimated change percentage" parameter that you can use and it will

Does the dsmerror.log file have the error message? If so, it should also
have an accompanying message indicating which file failed.

Hi Abdu
Ok you have scratch tapes, but does your STG have the permissions to
allocate
one more ? Check the MAXSCRATCH param for your sequential STG.
