Most likely explanations: Either the file is not getting backed up when
you think it is, or else it's being overlooked by whoever is looking in
the dsmsched.log file.
For starters, it would help to know the following:

For windows, there is an option called QUIET that you can put in dsm.opt. I
don't use it, so I'm not sure how much difference it makes. Description
below.
If you try it, be sure and STOP and restart the scheduler so it will pick up
the change to dsm.opt.
