Hi Zoltan,
I am glad it worked! RMAN sync deletes unneeded objects from SP Server via
DP for Oracle. Sometimes it does not happen (backdel = no, SP server is
down, etc.) and one has to user tdposync to delete.

Thanks for the assistance. The DBA finally got it working and purged long
abandoned Oracle backups - some going back to 2015 - and released 60TB+ of
backups. He now realized they have to run tdposync on a regular basis -
not just RMAN sync.

Do you mean running tdposync as root user? No, this is not required; you
can run tdposync as the Oracle user.
I recommend contacting IBM support so that you can provide logs and traces
to get this resolved.

Thank you for the response. We have looked at that document.
The DBA tried running it again but is still having issues. We think it
might require ROOT authority? If so, that is going to be an issue since
ROOT is very, very strictly controlled?

Hi Zoltan,
Please take a look at the documentation -
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spfd/8.1.0?topic=utility-syncdb-command
The connection string would be the same as if you connected to the catalog
using RMAN.
