I **think** what might be happening if that since the 2nd node was already
collocated and has data on tape, the backup stg pool is trying to fill the
existing tape with that node's data.

No problem. Everyone has a different take on how things get done. Sometimes.
there is no one way to do something in TSM.

I misread your note, and I apologize. What I wrote made sense if you
were asking about a node that was already known to TSM but hadn't been
in the collocated pool before you added it to the collocation group. But
you're describing a situation with a new node to TSM, and my answer

Actually, on my tape pools I had to enable collocate by group instead of node.
I don't see the point in doing a move nodedata. Why would I want to collocate
all my data on that node ? If I run a selective on all filesystems, I would
have a full image of what the syestem looked like today. If I

On a somewhat related note, be careful, the new default for collcation when
creating a new storage pool is "GROUP". With V5.2 and earlier it was "NO". Now
with V5.3 it is effectively "NODE" until you create your first group as Andy

Geoff,
You get collocation by node.
If you look up the syntax for DEFINE STGPOOL, you'll see some text for the
COLLOCATE option that hints at this:

If you specify COLLOCATE=GROUP but do not define any groups, data is
collocated by node. Similarly, if you specify COLLOCATE=GROUP and yo
