There is known problem when upgrading from 3.x to 4.1 and you must use
"CONVERT ARCHIVE REORG=Yes" for each node. The other approach
is to start at least once the GUI client (usualy you do not backup the
server manually but through command line client, right). This was included
in 4.1.2 or 4.1.3
The upgrade of the OS caused us a grief a couple of times. Here's
the note from the readme:
