Up until now, requirements for archiving of Oracle database
contents have been met by writing Oracle exports to disk and
having the TSM backup/archiv

We make the DBA's dump the data to a format readable by other versions and
other software, then archive it to TSM.

allmost been there (only have 10 years retention for this data). Initially,
we retired an oracle database on NT4 (donĀ“t remenber the oracle version,
current in 1999/2000) to our old TSM 3.7 on a mainframe. In the meantime we
migrated TSM to AIX and the to Sun, with two changes in tape t

I have read somewhere about a US Air Force unit that has a stack of
brand-new old machines, with brand new installation media and complete
instructions on how to set them up all shrink wrapped and ready for the
call to restore something old, which someone set up when they realized
the
cheap. The last one that failed took over a month to locate a
replacement.

The backups were done with the software Tivoli used to
market as TDP for Oracle, and now markets as part of
TSM for Databases.
