William,
I agree with Wanda about checking the performance of the DB, but if that
is not the problem then you may need to try something other than file
level backup. Have you considered using image backups? Image backups
run much faster and they have the advantage of improving restore times

First thing I would check on is the DB cache hit %.
That can slow things down, and I find a lot of people still running with the
defaults.

The user attitude is that they want exactly the same functionality that they had,
whether or not it is needed.
I'm still fighting the good fight on this one, but one way to handle this is to set

We have some users who want to do full monthly backups and keep these
separate from the normal backups (ie. do a backup once a month and keep for
1 year).
We do this via the Archive, but it has it's limitations:
- must specify each drive letter/ file system
-
ed) - this also does not
support all of the WIN2K Sysetm Objects.

Hello,
I also make monthly full backups.
I made another management class with a copymode of ABSOLUTE!
Then I made an admin command schedule to make the absolute management class the
default.
I scheduled this admin command to run at the end of the month.
Then I just run my normal INCREMENTAL
class).

Due to a failed server and the length of time required to restore it, my
management has "requested" that we implement monthly full backups of all
"critical" servers. How would I go about doing that? Any input would be
greatly appreciated.
