Is there a mpthreading optionin tsm 4.2 and higher?? is this option valid?\
Joe
Yesterday I put comment on this in error, got my "MP" parameters
mixed up. I confused MPTHREADING with SEARCHMPQUEUE.
My apologies!

David,
I am on os390 2.10 running a 4.2 server and changed to mpthreading yes last
year.
Have had no issues.
To get most noticeable benefits you need to be in the scenario where :-
You have a multi processor mainframe

David - I am running exactly the same tsm and OS/390, but with mpthreading on.
I haven't seen any problems caused by it. I turned it on at the suggestion of
tsm level 2 support to fix a pmr, I don't remember what the problem was.
I have just one processor, but level 2 assured me it
I have 4.2.1.10 on AIX with 3584 library. I have MPTHREADING
enabled since start of this server 3 months ago. Haven't had any
problems. As I understand it, this will only help with certain
situations, like when using a lot of tape activity. It seems like it
would save a few tape dism
We are running OS390/2.10 with TSM 4.2.1.9 currently we have MPTHREADING
set to NO.
I was considering changing it to yes. Has anyone had problems with the
MPTHREADING?
Also, what if any improvements can I expect?
Hi Ann,
We run exactly the same environment - OS/390 and TSM versions.
We have been using the MPTHREADING YES parameter for the last
2-3 years - no problems directly related to the MPTHREADING.
What we have had for a while now is a call open for TSM going
into a flat spin when there is a tape I
We are running the following:
Our MVS is OS/390 2.10.
TSM server is Version 4, Release 1, Level 2.0
I've been asked to look into MPTHREADING and determine if there are any
reasons NOT to implement it. I've searched the archives and found a
refrence from a long time ago concerning A
ackup completing (and reducing the
log to zero) I then recommend to immediately remove the safety valve log
volume.

Monitor the cache hit % in 'q db f=d'. The rule of thumb is to get it up to 98%. My

We turned it on and it did it's job, unfortunately it did too much.
MPthreading ask for multi-processors on MVS and it got all of them.
Subsequently that MVS image didn't do anything but ADSM. I submitted a
requirement to IBM to allow the MPthreading to have a throttle of maybe
We use the MPthreading option on ADSM V3.1.2.50, OS/390 V2.4. No problem

Hello everyone,
We are running ADSM V3.1.2.50 on OS/390 2.8 and I was wondering if anyone
out there is using the MPthreading option and if so how is it working? We
would like to boost ADSM BU/Archive performance any way that we can and I
want to make sure that this option won't cause u
