Unfortunately, the product does not allow you to adjust the retention of
individual Archive files: you can change them all, though. From my notes:

They will expire tomorrow or whenever you run 'Expire Inventory' from
tomorrow on. There is no way to change the archive retention within
TSM. What you should do is to restore the archive and then re-archive
it to a management class with a longer retention period.

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to make sure I understood the archive retention period
correctly so that some of the users at my company don't lose data they
wanted to restore from 12/31/2002. Apparently they archived the data on
12/31/2002 and it has a retention period of 65 days. Today is the

Kathy, you can trust the calculation TSM makes because it does the same
calculation during expiration processing. When archives are made, TSM
then set the archive group 3_months to a lower value. Once those number of
days pass the data will be expired

Ohh, well if it's set for 3 months, just wait. In 3 months it will be
expired...
Is that what your talking about?

I'm pretty sure as long as you just CHANGE the archive group it will change
the retention settings. Dale was talking about creating a NEW archive group.
If Dale wanted to change the retention value for 3_Mon

Hi Steve, we use the same scheme -
'archive_3y, archive_5y, archive_8y etc' with final storagepools based on

Ok, so the implication here is that there should be multiple Archive management

I currently have set up arch_1y, arch_9m, arch_6m, arch_3m etc
