I have the same issue, AIX 5.3 TSM 5.4.1.0, TS3500, LTO2 but only on a
single drive. I put this drive online and it works for a couple of hours
then the ANR8963E.
Some temp errors show in the AIX error log, but only for this drive. The
drive tested ok but was replaced anyway. No errors

This error causes the path to go off-line. We update the path with
AUTODETECT=YES and it fixes the path every time. But the error will

It's a TSM issue.
In TSM, update the drive using the serial=autodetect option. You can also
enter the serial number of the new drive as an argument to that option.
