Hay,
If you want to install TSM 5.2 you should have AIX 5.2 or you have to
install patches with AIX 4.3 to support TSM 5.2.
AIX 4.3 is out of support from IBM form 1/1/2005 and in AIX 5.2 you need to
upgrade db of any old version to work with TSM 5.2.

Hi As per documents you can take 32 incremental backups only and if you keep on taking incremental after that 33rd backup is
taken as full automatically. Even if you have not taken full backup it is taken by default.

Pl. check the hardware error log - if any problem reported as Return code=1 means some problem either in hardware or at operating system side. Secondly check environment variables set correctly -refer quick start book.
