on:
1. Differential is all changes from last FULL backup.
2. Incremental is all changes from last ANY backup
3. Full is all files not matter change on backup.
We used to do Differential with Weekend Fulls. During a resto
I did experience the same problem at a DR 3 years ago. What we found out
was our Daily Process was not working properly. The BACKUP STGPOOL was not
finishing to successful completion. Also, did a RESTORE STGPOOL COPYPOOL.
I usually run the restore a couple of months b4 DR to help sync things up.

sessions on a Gigabyte backbone. Now, the DBA had to kick off 6 separate
streams and since a great deal was on tape some of the streams waited for

including Recovery logs 5 GB each 10GB total). I have heard that this is

Certification but the TSM portion seemed to be Security oriented. Do you

How about using the Policy Domain to schedule a backup every so often. We
are thinking of doing this and changing the Copy Mode (in the Backup Copy
Group) to Absolute causing the backup to be a full and this will bring the
node date closer for faster restores.

We have had to turn our Journaling off of 2 NT servers, one an NT 4.0 box,
and the other a Win 2000 box. Both are using 5.1.0.1 TSM clients. The
reason we had to turn off was that the server would hang in the middle of
backing up. Since turning off this has not been a problem. We seem to
think
We use Server prompted on all backups, with the SCHEDMODE PROMPTED in
the dsm.sys, or dsm.opt files depending on the OS. I don't think this will
help with the DMZ though.

I tried to do that 1 of the last 3 years and that was the only year I got
burned not having the right tape. My suggestion is to bring them all
(copypool). The last 2 years I have had all info including extra,
backupsets.

Around here, we call TSM backups our Computer/Server/Node/Client Stress
Tester. I totally agree Mark, we currently used TSM backup "stress tester"
to test our Gigabyte interface and it did show pros and cons of the setup
of the GB network.

We currently have in place, for every Client that is to be backed up, we
need 50 tapes for TSM. Now that, that seems to supply the offsite and tape
quantity (average), I am asking if anybody else does more. Case in point,
we have a client that is going to increase with 900 GB Dasd. What about th

The best way we can get throughput is by using as many resources as we can.
We have an SP-node that will run at 250 GB per hour over the switch, so
what we use RESOURCEUTILIZATION5 and will get about 300 GB per hour on
the switch with 3 SP-nodes going at once. Adding the throughput
