Hi TSM'ers
I have built a test server and when I try and start dsmserv it fails
with the following error:
ANR0259E Unable to read complete restart/checkpoint information from any
database or recovery log volume.
I have re-checked the dsmserv.opt file and all seems to be ok...any
ideas?
Thanks,

Hi,
I have a standard policy domain setup to retain backups for 30-60 days.
I will be setting up a new policy domain to retain backups for 5 days.
At present a client is using the 30 day retention policy to retain
backups but I want files with the extension: *.fle to be excluded from

Del,
I looked at the DOMDSM.LOG but there was no information in it that would
explain why a backup was queuing.
The tsm server was operating with no reported errors so I was looking
for some type of output that would explain why it happened...

Del,
I am looking for the log file that reports the activity/errors of the
backup on the client.
It captures the same log as the dsmsched.log but on the OS/400.
Thanks,

Del,
Yes, we are using Data Protection for Lotus Domino to perform the
backups.
I am not sure what tool was used to setup the scheduler...!
Rachel.

Hi,
We have just started testing TSM backups on an AS/400 running Lotus
Domino.
Can you tell me where I would find the dsmsched.log file within Domino?
Thanks

Hi,
Two tapes are in vault status but are empty, they cannot be seen in "q

Thank you.
Thanks for all replies,
I will try to do up a script to allow the multiple mount point restore on
command line.

Hi,
Within Veritas Netbackup you can perform a restore crossing mount points,
meaning each filesystem does not need to be restored individually.
Example:
You want to restore the following filesystems:
/oracle
/oracle/sapdata
/oracle/sapbackup
The command to run would be: restore /oracle -subdir=
Hi,
Can you tell me if there is an option within TSM to restore crossing mount
points?
Thanks.
Hi,
Could someone please tell me the command to run a FULL system backup in TSM.
I tried: dsmc b /
This only backed up the root filesystem, I have changed the dsm.inclexcl
file to include the following:

Thanks.
I am testing restoring TSM server but it crashes when it tries to read from
the DB tapes, the error message on the server is something like "unable to
allocate raw volume"
Has anyone ever come across this?
Can you tell me what the correct procedure is to restore TSM server.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am trying to create a script that will produce a list of media to send
offsite.
I defined a script:
DEFINE SCRIPT VAULTING "select volume_name "Volumes to go offsite", voltype
as "Volume Type" from drmedia where state="MOUNTABLE " order by volume_name"
desc="Create vault lists"
And it fails
The following error appears when TSM loads a specified tape:"Error:
ANR8353E:I/O error reading label of volume in drive".
Recommended action is to run DSMLABEL on tape but tape has valid backups on
it.
Do you know of a way to label the volume again without losing the data?
Thanks.
Hi,
In TSM it is changing the volume status of tapes to full, when they are only
50-70% percent utilized. This has caused a full library to run out of
scratch tapes.
Do you know if a parameter needs to be set to allow the library to use the
volumes too 100%?
Or Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for reply,
Yes, tape is mountable. I ran an audit vol fix=no and it returned with

The volume is 2.8% full, read only state. There are 5 more tapes in the

Hi,
Multiple media errors are occurring on Maxell ULTRIUM LTO's. I have tried to
migrate and restore data from media with read/write errors and it fails due
to hardware and media mount error.
Would the next step be to try and "audit vol ** fix=yes"? If so, how
long would this run for?
