We are trialing TDPO so I can't call in for support yet.
This was working and starting today we are having trouble.
We started getting the following message when using TDPO.

Some of the drives have been converted to the new TSM Device driver and some
remain GENERIC DLT.

With TSM 5.1.7.2, or are you comparing to the "old" config? Or stand-alone

I have just had a call escalated to level 2 and was wondering if anybody
else is having a problem and may not know it. I was told I was the first to
report it.
We have recently upgraded to TSM 5.1.7.2 and noticed there is a higher
amount of CPU being consumed by the DSMSERV process. We were upgr

I just upgraded from 3.7 to 4.2.2.5 on HP-UX 11.0.
I know there are some subtle differences.

I run something similar every day.
I have 1 devclass per library and the command works fine without duplicating
the count of scratch tapes.
Do you have multiple device classes in the same library? My scratch are not
assigned to a specific device class they are scratch for the entire library.

I am planning the configuration of another TSM server with another tape
library (Similar to my first one).
I am worried about our operators accidentally inserting "library-1" good
tapes (i.e. offsite) into the other "library-2" as scratch. The TSM server
will add them to the "scratch" pool.

Yes, you can put this in a file and call it like a macro or define a script
similar to this one I run.
I call it Q_LIBSPACE
define script q_libspace "select volume_name, stgpool_name, pct_utilized
from volumes where volume_name in (select volume_name from libvolumes)"

This is foremost on my mind since I have a DR test scheduled next month for

I had a script to move the tapes that are full to a not mountable state.
Is your data on these non-full tapes not critical that you can afford them
to be onsite in the event of a disaster?
I combined my offsite storage pools (to reduce tapes used) into 2 separate
storage pools for DRM. (PROD_OFF

Joyce,
Do you not have room in your library for these scratch tapes? or Just want
to retain your copies longer than the original?
If you have data for long term storage you could just export that data or
place them in storage pools that are managed manually.
