XL format, red 3570 tapes

I have a problem with an 3575 L32 tape library with 2 C drives (XL format, red 3570 tapes) connected to an Netfinity 5000 running NT 4.0 and TSM 3.7. Client and server compression are turnd off, let the hardware do the compression, but the drives not compress. that this happening?
