I've had some limited succes in the past by renaming the directories to be
restored to something like directory.old. Then restoring the directories in
question using the dirsonly option, and then copying the files back into
newly restored directories from the renamed directories.

You don't even need ot mark the primary volume as destroyed, once you issue
the restore volume command it marks it destroyed for you.

I would have to say that you database is in the middle somewhere
although it is larger than most of mine.
I would highly recommend using the moirroring facility within TSM on you
DBs.

I just completed a dump/reload of my database of a version 4.1.4 server
It was a 3 gb db showing 80% utilization. After the reload I'm down to 24%
My problem was with the 4.1 documentation, try as I might it wouldn't work
with the loadformat step until a ran a dsmfmt of the logvolumes and the db

versioning for TDP for oracle should be handled by RMAN according to

others run fine (typical, and helps reduce the focus to
identify the delta between good client and failing client -- for Win2K,
we've seen flaky OEM-NIC's cause this kind of problem; also, one switch
vendor didn't work well with forced 100/full, simply insisted on

We currenty have an isolated 100mb ethernet network for TSM.
We have three NICS in the TSM server, each attached to a seperate V-lan
We spread the servers backing up across the three v-lans
We are having on clients on one of the vlans

You should be modifying the reclaim percentage when you want to kick off
reclamation on this pool. I usually set it to 65% when I want to kick it

Dave,
Check the re-use delay parameter on the copy group first and then
check to see if these tapes are actually empty.
You can manually expire them by deleting the data.
