or less and the session continues.
So my question is, what is going on during that time between tapes when the
session appears to halt but says it's running? Anyone else seen this
behavior? It does not appear to be a client or server resource
shortage of any kind.
Thanks

I was considering pitching BMR to managment again this year.
I probably won't now.
Perhaps this will force Tivoli to develop their own solution which would be
much more desirable in my opinion. Hmmm if that works... maybe Veritas
will
purchase OTG so we can get a native TSM HSM solution for
ly increase your restore elapsed time.
Hope this helps,

Matt,
What version of the client are you intalling? I had the same problem with
earlier
versions of the V4.1 Windows client. I think the bug was fixed at PTF
level
4.1.2.14 or higher.

0, using a temporary copy of NT
installed to a folder called Wintemp, then coming up under the original
name after restore/re-boot using the normal WINNT folder. It looks like
this is not possible with Windows 2000 and TSM due to the way TSM stores
the system object backups.
Comments?

I've been trying to download the latest Windows client from the
service.boulder.ibm.com FTP server all day but can get the .EXE to download
all the way. I can download the README's but the .EXE file download stops
at 22,168KB and hangs there every time. Anyone else had this happen?

Bert,
I am in the process of going the other way. We are moving most of our TSM
(V3.7) workload from OS/390 2.6 on a
9672-R55(~266 mips) to TSM V4.1 onan AIX H80 using the same type 3590
drives we used for mainframe TSM on the Fibre Channel version. In general
we are getting much better performa
ring
150GB plus NT drives with millions of small files using Veritas Backup Exec
as I did with TSM for NT. If it's all about TSM database overhead then I
guess we'll find that out when they start testing. Time will tell I
guess...

l. If it's about lots of interaction
with the TSM database leads to slower performance, even when optimally
configured, then I'd like to know what Tivoli has in the works to address
the issue. Because if it's the TSM database, I could probably install the
fattest Fibre Channel/network
3.7.3.0 at a minimum. Are you running a later version of the TSM server
than 3.7.1.0? We are planning to upgrade our TSM server very soon and was
going to try and install the service again after we upgraded.

Jim,
Do you know when the 4.1.2 client is scheduled for release? I was just
getting ready to start installing 4.1.1.0 on our
servers but will wait if 4.1.2 will be out soon.

Thomas,
Make sure when you run dsmcutil to install the second CAD and
Remote client agent service that you specify the /optfile switch
to point to the DSM.OPT file for your cluster node.

Thanks Wanda. Actually I did try to generate a server backupset

characteristics. The generate ran for a couple days. I was
thinking of giving it a try for this NT client.

Any idea how many hours it might take to perform this process on

taff says the NT
client machine is not overwhelmed in terms of CPU, Memory, disk,
etc. they feel TSM is the problem.
What could be the bottleneck on the NT client and what tool can I
use to find it?
