Joe, TSM usually does a pretty good job of tape management itself. We usually hav a query setup that we look at daily that tells us how many scratch tapes are available. We've been monitoring it over a period of time and have come to know just how many scratch tape we'll us daily. "Joseph

Vijay, What type of operation are you getting 15 GB per hour on? Tape speed is not usually dictated by the size of the data base but more by the size of the pipe leading to the drive. Are there times when you can approach the speed you stated of 20 BG per hour now? Jim -
