We are looking at the option of changing our tape drives from the A01 to CXX
version. Can we keep our existing tapes and 'convert' them to the higher
format? Or would new tapes need to be purchased?

I would prefer an AIX solution because of throughput capabilities. (e.g.
SSA subsystem). Also, with the 3466 turnkey system (includes server and
library as a package) it is easy to get up and running quickly and it is
also designed to provide optimum performance for TSM.

How do you get deleted copypool tapes that went to pending scratched out.
According to the book you should be able to do a move media with the
wherestate clause equal to MOUNTABLENOTINLIB. This doesn't work because the
tapes can be queried in list with the wherestate equal to MOUNTABLEINLIB.
