Hi John,
I have been having this same issue and your email prompted me to finally
do something about it. The only difference is that I am running my
server on P7 architecture (I am not using LDAP either) but I found the

Hi all,
I am looking to find out what data is stored on my TSM servers for a
node which is defined as a server. Specifically to find out why/what
data is being stored for each server to the other one to amount to
approx. 3.8TB and 4.2TB respectively which is causing me a bit of a
headache as I am
ot;.
Also, I've seen it do this if you remove a volume from the filesystem,
then allocate new ones, but don't remove the old volume definition from
within TSM (del vol ). For some reason it tries to recreate them,
even if maxscratch=0 and there are other volumes available.

Steve, does this command also list your empty volumes:

Good morning.
I was hoping someone can help me with the following:-
TSM Server version 6.1.4.1
Host AIX, version 5.3 TL12
Clients back their data up initially to my EXODISKPOOL, this is then
migrated to my primary storage pool EXOSATAPOOL. When this migration is
happening I am seeing messages in

Hi All,
I have a situation where previously my tape library was full (slot free
hell) and I was having to check out volumes that were in the copystgpool
so that I could make way for scratch tapes. Then the whole manual
procedure of getting the tapes back to scratch once they had been
recovered etc

- With TSM V5.3, there is no longer a separate 64-bit client.
This AIX client is used for both 32-bit and 64-bit machines.
If migrating from a previous version of the 32-bit TSM AIX client,
you can perform a migrate install, or uninstall the previous client and
The NOPREEMPT option is not set on our server.

All,
Sorry to keep on at this, but I am not seeing the predicted situations as

In the guide it says

Hi All,
TSM server 5.1.5.5
What I am looking to find out is the priority number assigned to various
processes such as the move node data, space reclamation etc.
Would anyone have a table or pointers to the documentation
Thanks in advance

Mike,
Somewhere to look is at the detailed info for the storage pool you are
trying to backup to.
q stgpool f=d
Look at the Maximum Scratch Volumes Allowed field and see what that value
is. If you are pushing this limit with volumes in the stgpool then up it.

Hi All,
Hopefully a quick question, if I perform a move node data command for a
client in the primary storage pool, and it moves all the data onto one tape
in that storage pool, will this change be written out to the copy storage
pools? i.e will the copy storage pools, after doing a backup of the
Hi All,
Quick question:
Is it possible to do a cross platform restore? If so, how?
I have some users who wish to restore a backup image of an NT4 server onto a
unix(AIX) server for purposes of DR (not my place to ask why). In my mind
this could be possible as it is effectively only a binary fil
Sorry, forgot to put in the levels.
Aix = 4.3.3.
TSM server = 4.1.3.0
Looks like I will be doing some upgrades to server level 4.1.4.1 at least. I
will try an audit vol after I get the tape brought back onsite.
I will contact TSM support to see what they recommend for the auditdb
command.

Hi All,
I have 2 different problems that maybe someone can help with.
Firstly when doing expiration I receive the following error message
ANR0871E Cannot find file space name for node 86, file space 1073741823.
How can I find out what the node and file space are (in english). I am

Jon,
You can not check the volume back in as scratch until the information in
your volume history file has been deleted for that tape. Use the command
TSM> h q volhist
to see more information on using the "q volhist" command. This can be used
to identify the tape and then once all the parameter
Arnaud,
I would flush all your routing information on both of the AIX servers. There
could still be some routes to the old address in there and these would need
to be deleted so that the server will only use the new route. Also have you
checked the /etc/hosts files on the AIX server?
# netstat -
Julian,
I have been having a look at using your select statement below and with
slight modifications I am getting the number of tapes that are needed for
each filespace for the particular node. I believe that the results brought
back by this select command are effectively any tape which has a fil
Rene,
Check which filesystems are specified in DOMAIN line in the dsm.opt file. If
theses file systems or directories do not exist then you will get these
errors.

Zosi,
I would use caution with using the "selective" method. If the command fails
for any reason after backing up some or all of the files, and then rerun -
whether automatically or by person on standby or whatever, you will
eventually start to reduce the number of versions of files that you keep
