Hi!
How do I run multiple nodes/schedulers on linux, if I want to use DSMCAD
?
In my batch file, I've tried to use:
export DSM_CONFIG=/test/dsm1.opt
dsmcad
sleep 2
export DSM_CONFIG=/test/dsm2.opt
dsmcad
But for some wierd reason this doesn't seem to work ?

nyway, it seems to be running now...

Hi,
I've got an issue with a DB2 database running backup towards a TSM
server... for some wierd reason, it keeps dropping/re-establishing the
connection towards the server...
The activity log on the server says:
01/24/06 12:57:21 ANR0406I Session 196229 started for node NODENAME
Hi,
Looking through TSM 5.3.2 files, I've located:
IBM Integrated Solutions Console V6.0.1 Linux zSeries for use with
Tivoli Storage Manager Administration Center
Now, there are 3 different versions zSeries, xSeries and pSeries.
Are these somehow locked to the specified IBM server series
- but maybe TSM is able to figure that out
itself ?
I haven't tried attaching a tape-library before, so I'm quite new to these
commands (I've mostly done disk-based storage pools untill now - just testing
in small-scale environment).

Hi,
The server is normally located on port 1580 - 1581 is usually the
client web service (used for the agents)

Hi,
Forget SNMP support on a Windows based TSM server. Some time ago, when a major
security-flaw was discovered in almost all SNMP implementations, it seemed like IBM
decided not to update the required component for Windows - together with a statement,
that SNMP v1 is insecure. I don't know wh
ember, IBM calls it
CPU instead of hosts)...

Hi,
How do I define a path with spaces in a inclexcl statement in a client option set ??
In a normal dsm.opt it would look like:
include "c:\program files\application\shared data\...\*"
How can I specify a path like this with the DEFINE CLIENTOPT command ?

Hi,
When the client has been set to back up NTFS security information - and then the
security on some files/folders are changed (user/group permissions etc) - will all the
files then be backed up again (full size) - or how is this handled by TSM ??

Brian
all the data, since your
first subfile backup has to create a BASE file.
Starting the SECOND backup you do this way, you should see less data because
you will only get DELTA files created.

Hi,
Use:
DOMAIN F:
Exclude *
Include F:\Lotus\...\*
Works for me. It scans the entire driev for the folder structure, but only vacks up
files in the f:\lotus folder (and all sub-folders)

Hi,
I have a question about the client dsm.opt file...
If I want to make backup of a directory-structure (all files) in a "normal" manner, I
just use the INCLUDE statement. But what is I want all files backup up using
incremental - but files with the extension .MSX in that folder structure s
a node without encryption, and it sends e.g. 20
GB of data - the the amount ought to be the same, if I delete all data
on the TSM server, and then tries to do the exact same backup with
encryption enabled (of course remembering to change the client dsm.opt
file and restart the dsmc application)

Hi,
I've tried to solve this issue before without luck. I'm trying to make a backup with
encryption on a new node/client. The node is registered on the server, and the first
login from the node (using dsmc and a simple dsm.opt file only specifying the
nodename, passwordgenerate and the server)
