Hi all,
Netware group at our location is not happy with backup
and restore performance using TSM. We are seeing roughly
4 to 5 GB per hour at best. We have tested going to SSA disk
pools, SATA disk pools and directly to 3590/3592 tape FC. We
don't see very much difference in these methods. Typic
Have you tried changing access to read-only? We had a problem
when we went from 3590e to 3590h where a single drive was not
upgraded properly and any tape that that drive had written was
labeled as 3590e. After drive problem was solved, the only way
we could be sure and read all tapes was to make t

I've looked through the postings but could not find

Hi all,
I know that this has been discussed a lot on this
list, but I'm hoping someone has crossed this specific
set of bridges before.

TSM'ers,
If anyone is using rs232 to communicate with
a 3494, some help would be appreciated. We

This a little off topic since it's an AIX question but I'm sure with the
knowledge out there it can be answered. How do I get an M80 to boot from the
AIX CD instead of the disk. Inserting the CD and starting after
*sm'ers,
In combing the postings, I have seen several
references to the problem of Netware being unable
to allocate a directory file handle. I have tried all of
the solutions that have been mentioned ( reloading
smdr and tsa's, removing .pwd files and regenerating
them, etc. ), yet none of them
Perm-A-Store makes Turtle cases for 3570 tapes.
We have several and they work fine.

*SMer's,
In searching the postings, I did not see a solution
concerning the question I currently have. Does
anyone out there backup Btrieve databases without
stopping them first? I am somewhat familiar with OFM
from St. Bernard as we use it on other clients. The problem

*SM admins,
Thanks for all the responses on my conversion
help request. It's a relief knowing that we don't have to
export/import for this. I guess I just got confused
in sifting through the postings. I think I learn more
from observing this group than I do from the actual
documentation. I hope
*SM admins,
We are currently planning to move our TSM
server from a 604e high node in an SP2 complex
to an H50 standalone. Both platforms have the same
number of CPU's and amount of memory ( 2 G ). The
big difference being MCA vs. PCI. We are on TSM 3.7.4
and are going to move up to TSM 4.1.2 (
*SM group,
If there is anyone running TSM 3.7 on AIX4.3

I would greatly appreciate it. We are seeing TSM

Hello,
Is there anyone out there using OFM 6.2 and TSM 3.7.2
to back up Netware 4.1/5.1 servers? We are seeing problems
with servers running out of memory. We have also seen some
servers with unable to run low priority threads. Occasionally we
have problems with servers hanging in the TSM sess
