file permissions is not mandatory but would be nice.
I'm familiar with restoring files saved on one client to another client
but it's always been the same hardware platform.
Anyone have experience restoring novell files to W2K servers? Any
gotchas? pre requisites etc.?
Thanks

Andy,
Glad you're on this discussion. I work for IBM and my colleagues and I were
told months ago from level2 TSM support that reporting a backup as failed (in
the TSM activity) as a result of an rc=4 (files open or not found) was a "bug"
in 4.2.x and would be fixed.

We have an end-user that accesses the TSM backup client command line on
our TSM INTEL clients (4.2.1.30) and runs the dsmc i command to start
maual backups on servers that failed scheduled backups the previous
night. He is the System Administrator on the INTEL boxes so we can't
prevent him from ace
I agree that RAID-5 is not good for TSM( DB,LOG or Stg pool voulmes). Basic
reason is poor performance. But I can't find any literature to back the
statement up. I'm having trouble convincing the IT architectsneed hard
facts..any ideas?

I have an immediate need to create a list of all my registered nodes and
the storage pool(s) each node backs up to. I know almost nothing about
creating an SQL statement so if anyone can assist, I would appreciate it
very much.

This is the toll free number in the United Staes for Tivoli support. I
don't know of a local one in Israel. You will need a customer number to
get support assistance.

Try this as a simple troubleshooting technique. If they are AIX filesystems add
this ONE statement to the opt file:
exclude.fs /db1/oracle
If the filesystem is locally mounted and in etc/filesystem should be excluded.
