Rejean, thanks for pointing this APAR out. Indeed it does appear to provide
generic ANS --> ANE conversion for newer messages that are not in an older
server's catalog (but the resulting ANE message is in the language of the
client, not in the language of the server).

a known defect with TSM servers (versions 5.5, 6.1 and 6.2).

The new process is simplified and allows the use of a generic bootable
image.
We have two images - one for x86 clients and one for x64 clients. These
get updated periodically as we deploy new client versions on the hosts
which necessitates installing new clients in the images.
We ironed out
The ANS message appears in the activity log if the corresponding ANE
message does not exist in the server's message catalog. This can occur if
your TSM client is newer, and issues messages that do not exist in the
older server's message catalog.
