Thanks everyone .. I will go with Andy's suggestion of using a separate
schedule to target a specific folder for backup.
Although Gary's suggestion would also solve my problem ,it comes with a lot of
administrative overheard since i would have to use many exclude.dir options

Hi Robert,
You should be able to use the procedure outlined in the 6.2.2 manual.
Important note: WinPE 3.0 has issues that can cause the ASR part of the
restore to fail. Therefore make sure you use WinPE 3.1, which consists of
installing the AIK for Windows 7 (WinPE 3.0), then applying the

Hi list,
Has anyone seen a recent document on Windows 2008 system recovery using
WinPE and ASR? (We're using the 6.2.3 client.)
I've found redpaper REDP-3703-00, its better than nothing, but is pretty
dated: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/redp3703.html?Open
I've looked at https://www-304.
We ended up installing libkeepalive.so on the host system for the 5.5.4.0
library manager client and updating the startup script for that TSM server
to set the LD_PRELOAD environment variable to the location of the library

Here is a technote that might help with some of what you want:

It contains a sample "as-is" Powershell script that you can

I know that there has been much discussion about this topic but was
wondering if anybody has a step-by-step guide or an IBM Redbook to
reference for using TSM to backup/restore Exchange 2010. I have read the
users guide and am still quite confused.
My main confusion deals with how NOT to get mul
I have a client system administrator attempting to archive files with a
command like:
dsmc archive '/CMS/oldpatients/039*' -subdir=y -archmc=ro_patient \

Files that are in oldpatients and have names starting with '039' get

If this was the case (I.E. No TDPs and no exclusions) then it will work
fine and is quick/easy.

Richard,
Your approach will work for file data, but a lot of the TDPs don't

impact of that might be in his environment.
I would go for an export allactive preview=yes. It might run for quite
a while.
