If you don't create two device class you use all cartridges (LTO3 and LTO4)
mixed in same storage pools. If you create device class for two lto type
separately, you can use lto3 and lto4 cartiridges different storage pools.

Short answer is yes,
If you don't care just put them all in together and use a device class
with format drive
If you do care use one device class with format=LTO3C and another with LTO4C

Hi All
In the past there have been several discussions about reading the tape
usage data on the LTO cartridge chips. These have revolved around the IBM
tapeutil utility, and so only apply where IBM drivers are in use.

Hi All
My TSM software notification email this morning has in it an entry for

That's an extremely vague question, with no specification as to what you
thereafter intend to do with the output.
Read up on copy storage pools and backup se
I've just upgraded an AIX TSM V5.5 Server to TSM V6.1.4.1, everything seems to
be working well except for the message: "ANR0299I A full database backup will
be started. The archive log space used is 80 % and the archive log space used
threshold is 99 percent."
Has anyone seen this before?

As I see it you have 3 options:
1. Use 3rd party app
2. Use Export node (if you want to use the data in different tsm
installation)
3. Use Backup set (if you want to re import the data at later stage)
Use-case is definitive in which option you pick

It may be worth you elaborating on what you are trying to achieve by
cloning the tape. It will be pretty useless without a db backup for
instance.
This is probably why Henrik suggested a backupset.

Please respond
I don't know how you are going to use that tape, but you should consider to
create a Backupset.

You will need to use a 3rd party utility to copy (clone) one tape to
another.
