Hello Nicholas, I have upgraded it straight way: 1) stop TSM Server; 2) run installation from 6.1.2; 3) start TSM Server. Everything is looking fine after upgrade. Grigori G. Solonovitch Senior Technical Architect Information Technology Bank of Kuwait and Middle East http://www.bkme.com Phone

Hi, David. TS3500 libraries do not require ALMS for LTO encryption as long as there are no non-encryption-capable LTO drives mixed in. If you plan to do a phased migration in the same library from, for example, LTO3 to LTO4, then you will require ALMS as LTO3 are not encryption-capable. I have s

As I understand it, ALMS IS required if you implement Encryption for LTO4 tapes/drives on a 3584 library, is that true? David Longo >>> Paul Zarnowski 8/17/2009 5:18 PM >>> We have a couple of 3584s with ALMS, and though we use TSM to share the library among 9 TSM instances, I still find the VIO

Hi Keith, I've worked with ALMS on customer sites in the past where a 3584 needed to be shared between multiple TSM Servers and having a single TSM Server instance (i.e. the TSM library manager) as a single point of failure wasn't deemed acceptable. Also, partitioning of physical library into logi

We have a couple of 3584s with ALMS, and though we use TSM to share the library among 9 TSM instances, I still find the VIO features of the 3584 to be handy. Having up to 255 virtual I/O slots can be nice when adding tapes to the library. When switching from one generation of drives and media to

Wanda, Thank you, that was very helpful. Perhaps ALMS is intended primarily for non-TSM applications. It sounds like logical libraries are superfluous if TSM control points are used correctly. If I'm going too far with that, please let me know. Best wishes, Keith Arbogast

There is no readme file yet. So, just install it over the original server, taking the usual precaution of backup db and prepare. Select what you selected during the 6.1.0.0 installation or the 6.1.0.0 or 6.1.1.1 upgrade on the deployment engine panel and you'll be running the upgrade. Joerg Pohlma

Hello All, Thanks for your help! I need to upgrade a TSM 6.1 server to the 6.1.2 release on an AIX system to clear up some bugs. I cannot seem to find anything about this on the information center. Has anyone done this before? Any information will be appreciated. Regards, Nicholas

The big difference between using TSM library/client architecture vs. letting the TS3500/ALMS do it, is whether you want to share DRIVES between TSM instances. If you just use ALMS partitioning, drives have to belong to one library partition/TSM instance or the other at any given point in time. Th
