Actually not all the parts are available yet. For example, Linux
Server part is missing. So is "Reporting & Monitoring".

Yea, they covered that in a recent Webinar. IF you have Backupsets with
TOCs you will not be able to upgrade, same for NDMP backups.

My Passport page only shows "IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases "
It feels like when the Apple store goes down for a new product...
I also just found the 6.1 Documentation. Not sure if its been posted yet.
Looks like TOC support isn't there yet:

Hello.
Visited the TSM support page which links to Passport Advantage however it is
not available. I called PA support and they stated that it will not be
available for 3-4 days. Can anyone confirm that they are having the same
experience?
Thanks.

It might be due to a Java or IE incompatibility.
Haven't used 6.0 yet, but saw similar issues when upgrading to IE7 and
other Java incompatibilities with the 5.5 client.

Totally, this was the problem. In the TSM management interface, I
right clicked on the device drivers -> properties, and as Kelly mentioned,
TSM was being instructed to use windows drivers. That was somehow reset in
the confusion of failed/replaced drives.
I removed the paths and drives from TSM,
Um -- why are you using the drives?
Use -checklabel=no on the checkout and -checklabel=barcode on the checkin and
bypass the label chack on the tape. We've had a 3584 with LTO drives of one
type or another for seven years now, or thereabouts, and NEVER check the labels
on checkout/checkin - and
No, there's no way that I've ever found to make it use multiple drives
at one time. However to speed things up when you are checking in DRM
tapes turn off the "Check Label" function.
You can either turn this off permanently in DRM for checking out tapes
and use the "CHECKLabel=no" option on the co
When using (or attempting to use) encryption, be aware that the client
manual fails to fully explain how file designation is achieved. Be
sure to read Technote 1377379, which contains guidance that is missing
from the manual, so that your organization doesn't end up with a
situation of files not
It's not officially documented, but you can use the QUERY BACKUP command
with the -DETAIL option and the QUERY trace flag. Note the "Compressed" and
"EncryptType" fields in the example output below:

While physically verifying encryption can be done, it is time-
consuming (client tracing, inspecting files on TSM volumes, attempting
recall without key). A wise thing to do at the administrative level
is to employ a management class whose name includes indication of
encryption, and to set up cli
I found the same thing once too Steve - couldn't figure out if I'd enabled
encryption successfully on a TDP client. The only way I could think of at
the time to be certain I'd set it up properly was to enable and look at a
trace on the client. There may be a simpler way (surely there must be).

Hi all
I'm using client encryption for the first time. Client 5.5.1.0 Windows2003
SP2 X32 server 5.5.2.0 AIX 5.3.
I have a Windows filesystem where one directory tree needs to be encrypted.
The client is serious enough about this that I will undoubtedly be asked to
prove it.
I've tried the gui
Hi there,
Whenever we checkin/checkout tapes from our 3584, TSM only uses on
drive at a time. It does round-robin through the drives, but is there
some setting I'm missing that would have it load up more than one
drive at the same time?
We're running 5.5.2
