I have another test for the HSM wisdom of the list. I mentioned that
we're preparing to move an HSM-enabled filesystem from one TSM client to
another. The filesystem in question has a couple of directories inside it
that aren't HSM-appropriate. My users have suggested that when we build

Excellent information, Ian. Thanks for the heads-up on JFS2 and on the

Thanks to both of you. I got what I needed from the exercise.
A few points for future clarity for anyone else trying the same thing ...
Even though the manual says otherwise, for the Windows client at least, the
leading "\" needs to precede the lowlevel file name specification.

John,
It is a pain, but a simple windows batch script can make it a lot
easier, since TSM provides a utility to change the pwd on remote
clients.
This script assumes:
1. you have the tsm client running on the machine where the script
lives, in the standard location
2. you have the same pwd on all

Thanks for your reply, Karel. You are saying I have to change the
registry key on each client? If so, I still have to go out to 50-100
clients and change them all on the same day, or their backups will fail.
That is not a cheery prospect.

Hi,
For windows, you can remotely change the registry key
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\ADSM\CurrentVersion\BackupClient\Nodes\
\ folder and after restarting the ITSM
service(s) things should work.

This is documented in ADSM QuickFacts, under "Set SERVername". See

Greetings,
I recently inherited a few TSM servers. Their internal TSM server
name does match the DNS name. The TSM clients connect to it via the DNS
name, but we would like to change the TSM server name to match. For
example, the DNS names of our standard are ABCD-TSM1, where ABCD is a 4

Anyone?
