Hi Steven,
Your suggestion is to use nametype FSID to delete the specify
filespace. Would you please tell me the placing of '1' behind OMRON, is
this the way to say FSID =1 ?
delete filespace OMRON 1 nametype=fsid

If you perform the Delete Filespace from the client side, you can
simply select the filespace from the presented list, and not have to
deal with the TSM server's impression of the name.

Hi Avy,
While the filespace name is \\Eomron\e$, not \\mro1\e$ as you have
specified, I have had trouble in the past with this and the fix is to
use the FSID to identify which filespace to delete.
In a previous post you showed

John,
For IBM drives you do not use the TSM drivers, but rather the base IBM
drivers you allude to. So continue to use those. This is true for any
manufacturer's library that has IBM drives in it. Another very
important point is to make sure and use the install.exe within the IBM
driver package
My understanding is, you are supposed to use the IBM atdd drivers with IBM
LTO drives. But you must use the TSM supplied tsmtape drivers with brand-X
LTO drives. This may apply to other tape technologies as well, DLT for
example. I have IBM LTO2 and LTO3 drives, and use the atdd drivers. At

My preference with IBM tape libraries and LTO drives on a TSM server

The process address space on any 32-bit operating system (Windows or not)

I've said this before, but I'll repeat. Based on painful experience, it
makes a HUGE difference getting TSM to backup a Windows fileserver with
6TB and millions of files located on 2 monster volumes versus getting it
to backup the same amount of data spread across 6 or 8 (merely) large
volumes. J
Hello,
Can anyone tell me why so?
OMRON is current backing up the following(see below). I would like to take
\\mro1\e$ out of OMRON 's filespace so that it does not need to back it up
anymore. Instead I am making MRO to backup \\mro1\e$, its E drive
separately.
I have specify in the dsm.opt file
Is anyone out there doing this? :-) Thanks!
God bless you!!!

This return code is very common. Files are not processed

A couple of other things to consider:
- Newer VTLs will have "data reduction" options to eliminate
duplicate data. Different vendors have different algorithms on doing
this. Some do it at the file level, others at the block level, or
other levels. TSM does not currently have any data reduction
Every night we have one machine which fails with return code 4, but I
cannot figure out why. Its the only machine that does this, and we have
several with the same configuration. The versions we're using are:

Client version 4.2.1

Yup, provoked me into an immediate uninstall of IE7. Actually, I have

We recently upgraded pc desktops to internet explorer 7.0. This mandated
