I've read through the Macintosh client notes for TSM 5.3.4 and can
find no way to install the client via the command line. Our Mac OS
X file servers do not have keyboard, video, or mouse attachments, so
the default GUI installer is not an option.
Is there an option somewhere for a command line in

I'm don't have a Windows system to try this, but use client command
Query SYSTEMInfo, and see if its Registry entries report reveals that.

Where in the registry (W2K and W2K3) are encryption keys stored?
Anyone have any good key-management strategies to recommend to users,
beyond advising them to be sure to keep track of encryption key password(s)?

Hi L
I added "archsymlinkasfile=no" to dsm.opt and that seems to fix the
problem. So we are good. And yes, TSM linux client I'm using (5.1.7) does
follow and backup symlinks by default, so if you've got recursive links,
the backup will fail. So the fix is that option. At least that works for
us right n

It is the case that the client OS environment is screwed up, and that
the client administrator needs to fix it...which is to say that this
is not a TSM problem.
(However, the TSM documentation on symbolic links is conflicting: In
the Unix client manual it says, "During a backup operation,
I'm all for the Talking Heads and "Road to Nowhere"
"Well we know where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been
And we know what we're knowin'

Alex,
There is a dsm.opt file option "archsymlinkasfile no" and command line
option "-archsyml=no'. According to the Backup-Archive Clients
Installation and User's Guide=, this will archive the symbolic link and
not the associated file or directory.

TSM 5.3.1 server on windows 2K server. TSM client 5.1.7 on RHEL4-AS. The
client has some recursive symbolic links, and whenever the client backs
up, the server tries to backup every directory within the sym link, which
is infinite and the backup dies.
Is there a flag to ignore backups of sym link

Steve,
It is possible that your DP/SQL meta data has migrated to tape.
Do you have the "Wait for Tape Mounts for File Information"
checkbox selected? If not, select the checkbox, and try again.
If the meta data has migrated to tape... you will then have to
wait for the tape to be mounted and read

Hi Ronald,
I've experienced this problem last week on AIX and this was due to

Maybe this is the issue on your server as well (physical memory/paging).
If buying more memory
