Will the fiber attached have an address similar to a SCSI attached (i.e..
device=lb0.0.0.0)?
ITSM Ver, 5.2.6 on Win2K platform.

There's not really much tsm can do about this particular annoyance.
Groupwise just doesn't have an easy way to get at individual mail

don't need, but it's only 5-10% of the total anyway, so you might as
well just do it all. If y

Sounds like this is a problem with the TSM database, not any indivual tape(s).

Boris,
This is my GUESS.
When reading the disk you take advantage of OS read-ahead caching so the
"backup" performance is limited by the output device or its communication
link. My LTO-1 drives will each swallow 20 MB/s or better depending upon
compressibility.
When "restoring" to the disk, esp

It's annoying having to restore an entire mailbox just for a few

Hello,
We have a separate "restore server" that we put all of our groupwise
restores onto. Because groupwise makes you restore the whole P.O. just
to get at one person's email, it would be a bit cumbersome for us to do
it on the live servers. On the groupwise servers themselves, I run a

Greetings,
In any encryption solution you pick, key management is crucial. Who
is responsible to generate the keys? How often are they changed? Who
maintains a long-term archive of the keys so you can unencrypt data that was

Geoff,
It is one thing to say that you need the TSM database in order to
reconstruct a file (in its correct format) on the client system. It's
another to say that the data can't be read at all. So yes, you could
possibly read the tape outside of TSM and obtain readable bits of
information, dependi

Richard,
Sorry, I also forgot to mention that this date problem is not the only
one : look at the output of my query and compare the number of
processes, and the amount of data transferred with the activity log !

Richard,
Thanks for your prompt answer !
At least I know where it comes from, but to tell you the truth, I'm
becoming seriously bored with TSM : a new interface no one wants to use,
then bugs in the simplest functions ...
I loved TSM, but the honeymoon is over and IBM is responsible for it ...

Hi Jim,
I believe that client-sided/initiated
encryption is your only 'native' option here - prior to TSM 5.3, the 56bit
DES encryption provided simply wasn't enough for some institutions, but
with TSM 5.3,128bit AES encryption for both BA client *and* API backups
(i.e. TDP's) has been brought in
