Dear TSM-ers,
I got LTO 3581 L17 at my office. Yesterday, I experience some weird problem, my
LTO suddenly can't mount the cartridge into the drive. Besides the "E" on LCD,
I got error sense data like this :
0123 45 67 89 AB CD EF

This is TSM 5.2.x btw. Interesting.. if the primary pool volume is
deleted, would it remove references to the files on the copypool
volume such that

I will attemp to describe the background and my problem, it's my first
time posting though so if some of the terminology is a bit off, I
apoligize.
I'm trying to restore files originally backed up to a netware server.
Restoring back to a netware server using 4.5.3 of the tsm agent for
netware.
Hello everyone!
I have put together my new TSM environment and have been running ok, but
now I would like to make the admin jobs run more smoothly. I have created
a doc
with the order of admin scheduled events. I would like to place as much as
possible within 1 script so that it flows better
I opened up a pmr. IBM's response was that the ptf is misleading. The
readme for TSM 5.2.2 on OS/400 pase says to set the Main storage option to
*MINIMIZE for all storage volumes. Explains why the first were set up
this way, but then we forgot and didn't change the new ones.

Yes I do, and so do the creators of the accompanying README file... :-)

Hi, all,
I am preparing for the TSM 5.3 implementation cert test. Could you do me
a favor to recommend which book is the best one to read? Is it sg245416?
it is for 5.2.
Thanks a lot
Wei
With TSM 5.2 you can install both API's next to each other
You can also install TDPO 32-bits and 64-bits next to each other.
I would expect the same to be supported with TSM 5.3

Hi Steve!
Thank you very much for filling me in. I missed that one...
But how about the following situation:
I'm running an AIX 5.2 machine in 64-bit mode. This machine also has Oracle
installed, so the 64-bit TDPO client is installed. TDPO 64-bit requires the
64-bit API to be installed, but the BA

- With TSM V5.3, there is no longer a separate 64-bit client.
This AIX client is used for both 32-bit and 64-bit machines.
If migrating from a previous version of the 32-bit TSM AIX client,
you can perform a migrate install, or uninstall the previous client and
Hi *SM-ers!
The 5.1.7 client for AIX package contains both the 64-bit API and BA client.
The 5.3.0 client package does only contain a 64-bit API client and no 64-bit
BA client. Does anybody know why that is?
Thank you very much for you reply in advance!!

Hello everyone!
I am trying to configure a daily report that includes a summary of storage
pool backups & success, device configuration backup, volhistory backup,
dbb, dbsnapshot, drmplan creation, expiration, etc. and I was wondering if
these will all show up in the summary table? If so, how do
Arnaud & others,
Thanks for your useful information.
With sessioninitiaton option set to serveronly, how would I restore files
when the need
arises, as the command line client, local GUI and Web client GUI cannot
be used.

You can find out with the command HELP DELETE VOLUME.

Thank you Richard. Tsm support got back to me later yesterday suggesting the
same thing.
I am one of our solaris people. We have no support contract, so don't have a
patch database to look at. However, did get an early patch # from tsm support.
Now to get it applied.

A search suggests that this is a Solaris 8 issue, in having failed to
provide the needed libCstd.so.1, where the application of recent
Solaris patches should correct that. Your Solaris people can probably
find that defect description on their side.
