What I want is a daily scratch list which expire daily, not in a libvol. So
that I can reuse tapes which has been checkout and I don't have to check in
new tapes when my storage pool is out if scratch tapes.

For example by:
"select * from libvolumes where STATUS = 'Scratch'" for a list of all
scratch-volumes
or
"select library_name,count(*) scratch from libvolumes where STATUS = 'Scratch'
group by library_name,STATUS" for the number of scratch-volumes grouped per
library

Hi all,
We have to migrate TSM 5.2 from OS390 to AIX 5.2.Total data is around 20 TB

What will be the best strategy to do this? server to server export import or
fresh backups after fresh installation.
Any past experience, writeup or redbook for this activity?

We are in the progress of migrating our TSM clients to a new 5.2.2.0
server running under mainframe Linux. We just migrated an Intel Linux
client system with 5.2.3.0 client software. The client is not responding
to a request to start an incremental backup. The scheduler log on the

dear All,
I am glad to see this question and replies.
Please find the question in the end: I am sorry but need to give you basic idea
of what had happened.

The domdsmc archivelog command backups all the logs that
have not yet been archived regardless of the their date.
The Domino server keeps track of which logs have been
archived and passes that information to DP for Domino.

The incremental commmand inactivates any active database
backups on the TSM server that are excluded from backup.
The dsmtest.opt file inactivates all databases in the
mail directory. Domino databases are stored by their
relative names in the TSM server so relative names

Hi All,
Is anyone doing LAN Free backups on Solaris to an AIX Server? I have
the Storage Agent connecting fine to the server, but IBMtape on solaris is

Hello,
We just found out that one of our Novell clients has a

the backup and TSM thinks the files are open.

If they aren't assigned to a storage pool, there is no valid data on
them, so no recovery is necessary.
When TSM has a problem completing a mount, it doesn't know whether the
problem is with the tape or the drive.
So it marks the tape private to prevent a repetitive failure on the next

HI,
in such case (scratch tape updated in private by TSm), we just do a checkout
remove=no, then a label overwrite=yes or checkin as scratch.

We had an UPS failure in the data center. When the UPS failed, it
immediately disconnected power to all devices in the data center. At
the time of the failure, there were 3 tapes being written to in our 3583
library. After the UPS was repaired, I brought everything back online.
