We have been asked to backup Essbase from Hyperion on one of our Windows
2000 client machines. This apparently involves stopping the Essbase
application prior to backup and restarting it after. We plan to use the
Pre and Post schedulecmd client option to run the required scripts. Does

If you use exclude the directories are still backed up and they are traversed with
every file examined to see whether it matches something in the include/exclude list.

The command "prepare" used without DEVCLASS parameter specified, the plan
file is written to a file based on the plan prefix. In my case, the TSM
server path.Each day as prepare command is ran, new Recovery plan file

I have everything setup for my INTEL machine running Win2K(TSM 5.2) to
backup to my TSM server(AIX 5.2, TSM 5.22) and I kicked off the

OK, next step is to look at the APAR's suggestion to use SHRSTATIC
serialization.
What serialization do you currently use? Generally SHRSTATIC is what I
would recommend, unless there is compelling reason to use another
serialization technique.

at the German Storage Users-Guide in Nuremberg IBM told us last week that 5.3 will be
available in december via ftp and in january via CD.
I think you should call IBM if you are planning to migrate to 5.3 as fast as it will
come out to get a beta version for test.

Question. We have one server where a backup was aborted and then
connectivity could not be established. After restarting the TSM client,
same errors. After a server reboot, things were fine and then started
acting up again. Anyone know what the problem is? Below is the error

What DEVCLASS is your "new" library? If you specified ULTRIUM for the
FORMAT and put ULTRIUM2 tapes in the library, you would get this behavior.
