Hi All,
suppose you were an IS amanager and were concerned to detect whenever administrators
under your control changed things in TSM without filing approprate change management
documentation and seeking approval beforehand. How would you approach this?
I can think of two possibilities -

Tim,
"It is possible to pre-define the volumes with DEFINE VOLUME (I have not
tried this)."
The limitation of one file system per FILE device class affects scratch
volumes only. As far back as ADSM 3.1 I had FILE volumes belonging to one
DevClass defined on six different disk file systems. Your
Per the client release readme, only NSS volumes will backup files larger
than 4GB. If it is a NSS volume, not TFS, then I would check to make
sure you've got all the newest novell patch levels, besides just the
newest TSM client. In particular, do you have sp5, and all the newest
NSS/SMS patches.
One thing to keep in mind regarding OFM/Groupwise backups. At first we
were having trouble getting the volume to sync correctly during a
backup. We had to change the OFM properties for that client (under the
"NSS" tab) to an initial cache size of 4096K. It was initially too
small, and the cache
We have a Netware server here that has large 8 GB files on it. The
backup backs up only the first 4 Gbytes of the file. The Netware guys
just installed the latest patches, we are running TSM client 5.2.2.9.
Any ideas out there any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Peter
Well, from the attached file, I saw the file was backed up only 5 or 6
times since May. I can't say *why* TSM has multiple backups of the file.
Some possible reasons include:
* incomplete -incrbydate backup. If you use -incrbydate, check the last
backup time for the file system
* selective backup
How can I force TSM to checkout tapes that are in an inaccessible library?
Here's the situation. We have a 3584 LTO library that is fibre attached
through a SAN switch. The library is inaccessible because of switch
problems. I have defined another library (with a path through a different
device)
Also, look into client documentation regarding the curly bracket
{/filespace/dir/path}/path/path/file
notation. You may be in a situation where you need to clarify exactly
where the 'query backup' Is looking.

I have found that the QUERY BACKUP is real sensitive to the format of the
filespace...I normally use the GUI (either DSM or the web-client). Go to
Restore and then just click down to the directory to see if any files show
up.
If you are running -VERBOSE as an option for the daily incremental, you

Here is an example of what I am seeing. I can't explain why it is

April 28 is significant because the server was rebuilt on that day.)

All you need to do is backup the GWADMIN and GWISE directories. No special
management class is needed. To restore, restore the above directories into a separate
NDS tree and bring up groupwise

No, none at all.
See an older posting of mine at

Does anyone Backup Novell Groupwise? I understand that there
is a file that has to be retained longer than the oldest

Hi All,
We are trying to backup every night an oracle server, which
created a daily full export dump file around 27G in size. Combined with
other new files created on the server, we are expecting about 30G backup
each day. We have a script that queries the account log and email us the
Hi all,
I have BRMS installed on the AS400 Version 5 Release 2 where the backup execute normal

Attention for detail: This error happens but when restoring objects. The restoration

Do you have any tools that scan the machine on a weekly basis, and perhaps
flip the archive flag?
What I don't understand is how this could cause havoc with your
incremental backup. TSM ignores the archive flag when determining whether
the file has changed, nor does it change the flag after the ba

Has anyone seen a situation where the archive attribute gets turns on

We have a AIX node that is running Oracle and uses SQL-BACKTRACK. The

I'm not sure there is a conflict at all.
The first reference is in the narrower context of archive processing, when
the options include and include.archive are equivalent. Similarly, in the
section immediately above on backup processing, it describes include and
include.backup as being equi
