Does anyone have suggestions for a "starting point" for learning how to
integrate TSM with Tivoli Workload Scheduler?
Is there any doc with the Workload Scheduler that will help, or anywhere in

Hello all MVS TSM users!
The TSM server is on os/390 2.10 and the DASD being used would be HDS MOD
9's. Right now we have all of our disk storage pools on MOD 3's, but would
like to move it to MOD 9's. Does anyone know if it is possible to use VSAM
extended which would allow the VSAM to be great
If the client is just "disappearing", it is probably crashing. You can
confirm this by setting Dr. Watson as your default debugger. From the OS
command prompt issue:
drwtsn32 -i
Then try to reproduce the crash, and see if you get a pop-up message about
the crash.

I should have said we upgraded the CLIENT code to 5.1.6.2. Server level
doesn't seem to matter.

We have exactly the same problem.
Started happening when we started rolling out SP3.
An SP3 machine will back up OK for a while, then inexplicably refused to
back up the system files component of system objects.
Upgraded to 5.1.6.2, that fixes the problem for us.

Hi,
Take a look in the list archive. There are many documents related to the
system objects. In your case I would upgrade my TSM server to something like
5.1.7.1 or above and the clients to v5.1.5.15. This combination works for
us.

I am using the TDP for R/3 and would like to see how many tapes are
being saved each night and ensure that the retention is set correctly
(and that the old database backups are expiring). Is there a command
that can be issued or gui option available?
Thanks,

Hi !
I have a problem with some of my clients.
Lately, some of them are unable to backup the systemobject !
When doing a manual backup, I find out that it is the system files that
cause the application to die.
(It doesn't hang, it just terminates and disappears !)

>>Question: does anyone have "practical" experience with subfile backups?
Yep - about 350 Win2K machines using it for last 2 years.
Our server is still 4.2.1.15, clients at 4.2.0.0; haven't tried it yet at
5.1 server.

Yep. Really straightforward.
Easy to test, easy to
I'm currently going thru this process and the only way I have found to
reclaim the old non-collated tapes is to do a "del vol
discarddata=yes" to remove the unwanted data followed by a "backup stg
primarypool copypool" to re-backup the data that is not being moved to a
new stgpool.

Hi Jens!
We think you have wrong timestamp format in your TDP.
Change the timestamp format on your TDP.
Then should it work fine.

Right! But expiration will take care of both copypools, only when primay
data will expire... until then you will have 2 copies...

Hi again,
It´s same entries in dsmsched.log as in NT Eventviewer at the end of the
backup, like objects failed, next schedule, successfully backup of c$ etc.
TSM backup/restore works fine, it´s only how things are displayed in
Eventviewer.
