Is there anyone(else) out there relying only on RAID for TSM fault
tolerance? I just attended the Advanced TSM class and learned that RAID is
not sufficient. Database and log mirror copy volumes are needed for the
most effective TSM fault tolerance.
By the way. We're not using copy pools either

There has been significant discussion on AS400 and TSM on this list in the past so you
may want to search the archives.
Basically the current interface uses TSM to provide virtual tape drives to BRMS.
Since BRMS uses a GFS backup strategy this negates TSM's advantages. It has also been

I am guessing that this isn't a 5.1 or higher client, since RC 4 should
not result in a failure. For 5.1 and higher, return codes are in the
client manual chapter on "Automating tasks". For versions below 5.1,
return codes are not documented and you can not necessarily attach any
special meaning to

No typo. Since this is administrative function versus backup-archive

always has been) where the other Admin CLI options are documented.

Geoff,
Try adding a TODATE= to the RESTORE command. The manual says the TODATE is
required if you want to do a point in time restore with a volume history
file. I suspect TSM is trying to read the recovery log to do a roll
forward restore with out the TODATE parameter.

I have no reason to believe there is a problem here. Perhaps you could
copy & paste the actual command you type in and output you receive that
illustrates the specific problem. Also please provide other specifics as
to why you believe there is a problem.

The current tsm sql engine doesn't have enough columns to give you the
answer you are looking for. I suggest this alternate procedure;
1. Do a 'q occ nodename', add up the files and space used values for the primary pools.

I can't say which messages you can choose/afford to ignore, but a couple

Why not create a new primary pool, and back it up to the new copypool? You
can migrate the data from the old primary pool to the new one as time goes

The down side is that until you
