I am trying TDP for oracle 2.2.1 32bit, which came with the 5.1.5 pack.
But i can get RMAN to "talk" with the TDPO.
Can I install TDPO 5.1.5 64bit my machine?
hi
Yes you can but you have to define new drive in the devcnfg.out file
according to the new tape drive specifications if both the tape drives are
compatible. while restoring the database TSM will check for devcnfg.out file
and connects to the tape drive for restoring.

Hi Gus,
Last time I checked this out, the emulex drivers (IBM Fibre HBAs are Emulex 9000s) did
support IP over fibrechannel, but the IBM drivers supplied with AIX didn't.
My AIX 5.1 system currently has no smit options which relate to IP on fibrechannel, so
I assume that its still not support

Question: Does TSM (5.1.5.4) support Window 2K MFT files. Does it

I agree with Andy don't change include/exludes between backups of the same
system!
Use TSM 'archive' function to get the data once per week to the TSM server
instead of TSM 'backup'
exclude's are ignored by the TSM archive function (unless you are using
exclude.archive)

Agreed! I have gotten numerous boxes of 'prelabeled' tapes only to find
that the vendor had only applied the barcodes.

I'm at AIX 4.3.3 ML 10
Somewhere along ML 6 or so, additional entries were added to /etc/inittab
such that an rc script gets executed and passed the run-level much like in
Solaris and other unix environments.
Example:
l2:2:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 2
l3:3:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 3
l4:4:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 4
l5:5
You definitely should not use multiple include/exclude lists. Here is a
post I made a while back on a similar topic:

Anyone seen the new reporting add-on for TSM version 5?
Has anyone configured TDP for Oracle 2.2.1 (ITSM 5.1.5) with Oracle 9.2 on
AIX 5.1? Our Rman backup hangs. Our node for Oracle does establish a
session, then ends the session in TSM.

Frank,
I think you brought an interesting point about your fibre IP
connectivity as I plan to redesign my SAN with TSM server on AIX. Could
you share a little bit more about how to use IP through HBA to connect
to TSM server? This is new to me because I desinged to have separate
ethernet cards for
1) No it is not possible with SCSI based devices, but it is possible
with Fibre Channel attached devices.
2) Each instance of TSM maintains it's own disk pool, tape devices
(unless you are using the TSM library manager/client feature), and tape
volumes.

Hello all,
I've got a few miscellaneous questions.
First, is it possible to connect a SCSI tape device to a Win2000 client (ver
4.2.3) and have our in our TSM server (AIX 4.3.3.) recognize it? If so,
how?
Second, I know that we can establish a connection between multiple instances
of TSM server
What specifically do you want to know?

No...we are using fibre IP connectivity for our TSM backups. Fibre HBA can
use IP to link to the TSM server via a standard IP address...

Marcel, here the answer from one of my AIX colleague:
There are different ways to make this work, one is:
Through correct name resolution:
- Check name resolution on tsm1 using command
# host nms5
-> answer must be 172.20.1.15
and
# host tsm1
-> answer must be 172.20.1.10
- Check name

Tcpclientport 1501

Had you tried an AUDit LIBRary?
I've done this last week, only in the other way (storage to I/O). It
only worked after the TSM server was bounced.

Hi Marcel,
Do you have a TCPCLIENTADDRESS line in your DSM.OPT? It tells the
server which address to contact in prompted scheduling mode.

Yes it does restart, but if you watch the backup-archive client, it will
