platforms" - on Windows this might "upgrade" filespace to unicode and

RETEXTRA and RETONLY parameters. Eventually, only the
active set will remain.

Sorry I didn't make that clear, it's any directory you want.
On a Windows TSM server, I've even sent the DB backup to a network shared
disk that is physically on another machine (that involves some Windows
account/permissions manipulation though).
