As I said a while ago, I think it's a bug. I'm guessing that this is a
multi stream backup (I think that has already been established), and the
data transfer time is the total of all of the sessions, but the elapsed
time is for only one session... can you confirm that Miles? Hopefully you

Hey Paul,
Is this happening on many carts or just a few (or just one)? Have you
looked at it... maybe it's broke!

I re-use [Magstar 3570] tapes, and sometimes Tivoli refuses the tape with
the following error:
12/28/01 08:13:54 ANR2017I Administrator issued command: LABEL
LIBVOLUME LIB2 2ce16c CHECKIN=SCRATCH
OVERWRITE=YES
12/28/01 08:13:54 ANR0984I Process 402 for LAB
The most common cause, I have found, is that the tapes have the
"Write Protect" tab set.

Helo!
Does someone know why I receive the message 8778w? All tapes change of

ok I guess I spaced it sorry, a lot is going on.
anyways it is very intermittent. I say it is impossible the ATL tech also
has said it shouldn't be happening but the operators swear that it is. of
course I have no idea how they are put in, or wether there are gremlins
involved :-)
thanks
Paul
Yeah, I caught that. I do not know of a way to include the DMI during the
buot from CD. I think you are going to have to create a temporary boot
drive with the stuff needed.

Andy and all,
Your suggestion worked great!!(select * from events where scheduled_start
between '2001-02-20 00:00:00' and '2001-02-22 23:59:59'). I am using the
ODBC to return the information to an Excel spreadsheet. Where as before I
was getting just today's info, now the results look just like

One way to do this is by giving User_A at node_A authority to restore all
files
from the /home/directory/ directory. The command is as follows:
tsm> set access backup "/home/directory/" node_A user_A options

NT 4.0 stores this info in the Registry. The default settings are to
backup the system registry during an incremental backup.

what you will find is that "dsmc" doesn't like to process > or >>
what you will need to do is use "eval" such as
eval dsmc incr -pass=blah >> /somepath/sched.log
or
eval nohup dsmc incr -pass=blah >> /somepath/sched.log &
that should work for you...

Thanks, but I am not sure if your caught the fact that I am booting off the
install cd, then exscaping to a shell while using the mini-root. I don't
think I can install SGI DMI ...
my purpose is to just get enought of the OS to run dsmc so I ran recover the
files.
Any other ideas?
THANK YOU
Hi,
Do I have to specify anything in dsm.opt file for backing up share info
for a windows nt 4 share (info is users who are given access) or is it default
to
default to backup share info?

I know there is a command to pipe information out to a file, but what I
need to be able to do is append information on.
For example can someone tell me how I could append a manual backups
information into my schedule log without overwriting the scheduled backup
information?
Depending on the target environment, it is possible to consolidate these
three server components on to one machine.
The File server always has to be Unix/Aix I believe.
