I have a Netware 5.1 with client Tsm 4.2.0 when the scheduler run I got the
message:
09/18/2001 22:46:03 (TSA500.NLM 5.4 313) A file cannot be read.
And nothing else happen (nothing else in my dsmerror.log), just get that
client is missed

If you are forced invoke your client with "-pass" option probably the
password is not set in the dsm.opt file and the passwordaccess option is
not specified in dsm.sys.
So the scheduler in the background does not know the password and is unable
to authenticate with the server.
To just verify this

I was too lazy to RTFM so I've made some tests and what happened:
0. I have both "COMMmethod TCPip" and "COMMmethod SHAREdmem" enabled.
Shared memory ought to be faster than TCP/IP over loopback.
1. If "COMMmethod TCPip" is commented out the TCP port becomes disabled
just as expected
As already Petr wrote use convert archive. This a half-documented command -
it is not available (in my) Administrator's Reference but you can find it
through help as you can see:
tsm: PUMBA.ACIT.BG>help convert arch
