Hello
I am just testing a Netware restore with a AIX Server 3.7 (in a few weeks

Hi, Rob. I've done the same test again, and it still didn't update the

The backup shown here only backs up the directory not the files (1 object

Actually, I don't think it does modify the access date. Below, I've copied
a session that I've tested it on.
I did post something before about access dates and McAfee outbound file
scan. You can find it at

agent.lic is TDPO client license file. Lower level servers don't have
server side licensing. We use that file to verify on the client side.
TDPO will not run without a valid agent
you need RMAN to do this.
how i haven´t got a clue. don´t know jack about RMAN.
RMAN handels the Expire process with Oracle Backups in TSM.
"Personaly i think that sucks."
recomend you read the TDP manual for Oracle. found here
http://www.tivoli.com/tsm
under product manuals
hope this helps.
Try this command...
select distinct node_name,volume_name from volumeusage where node_name

The volume_usage table can be queried with sql. You don't
need to use the unsupported show command. Try this macro -
/* */
/* macro file to select the volumes that a node */
/* is stored on.*/
/*
select node_name,volume_name from volumehistory where node_name='XX'

Hi,
this little script could help you.
Roland Schreiber
/* --*/
/* Script Name: VOL_NODE*/
/* Parameter: ClientNode-Name */
/* shows all volumes/tapes that contain data */
/* for a node
Reclamation uses 2 drives for each tape pool as it runs. Migration can be
set. UPDATE STGP blah MIGPR=N where "N" = max number of
processes (tape drives) that will run for that storage pool. Set it to 1 and it
will use only one tape drive, if mirgating from disk pool to tape pool.

Petr,
I had asked IBM similar questions. They referred me to
informational apars II11710 and II11712. There were parms to change in the
TCPIP profile, BPXPRMxx, the TSM server, and the TSM clients. Usually it is
a matter of setting buffer sizes, number of buffers, window sizes,

I have a similar scenario. AIX 4.3.3, SAN McData Director ED-5000 with a 3584 library. The TSM version is 4.2, SAN is not supported in older version. You need to install de Storage Agent for AIX to work with the SAN.

When Tivoli executes a backup on the file in our Windows environment, it
appears to be changing the access dates on those objects. Is there any way
to backup a file with TSM and NOT affect the access date?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Becky!
I will try this and I'm sure it will work.
(I knew there was something wrong in my configuration,
but the documentatoin says nothing about this...)

John,
I upgraded from 3.7.4 to 4.2.0 last weekend. I haven't had any
problems with clients. Most of my clients are 3.1.0.6 on many platforms
but mostly winnt 4*, mac os ??, and many levels of solaris. I don't
have any netware.
My server is on os/390 2.10.

Bob - try this macro. You are on the right track but you need the
distinct function. I just ran it for a node with 20,000 archive files and it
took 15 seconds wallclock.
