My experience is that the select processes all the data. The cancel only
stops the display.

Do you have compatible storage devices on TSM server and the fileserver
(i.e. DLT library on TSM server and DLT drive on the file server, or DDS-3
on TSM and DDS-4 on FS) ?
If yes you can create a backupset and perform LAN-free restore. This might
be even faster than to overload your T
I've had several incidents where LTO Ultrium tabs slide to the write-protect side
while inside a library (we have a 3584 library, which has a fast robot).
The last one I examined the tape and it wasn't firmly switched.
It's not a major but the last couple of incidents caused a node backup failure
