Well, at 50%, it's really a moot point ... 50% empty and 50% full are the
same thing. We usually set our daily reclaims to 67%, and if we do adhoc
reclaims we start at a higher percentage... maybe 90%, to get the emptiest
tapes freed up first.
Also, remember, TSM will use available "FILLING" tap
But this is what I saw in red books implementation guide
and I have seen that when Tapes touch 50% reclaim process starts.
Its the way it worked for me.
it is ok.

No, actually you have that reversed. The reclaim percentage is percentage
"empty", so if you want to guarantee 2 tapes to fit on one scratch, make
the reclaim percentage 51% or greater. If you want 3 to 1, make it 67%; 4
to 1, 76%, etc.

Hello Brian,
The TSM clients go out of service when their corresponding server version
goes out of service. The end-of-service matrix shows that TSM 3.7 for
OS/390 goes out of service on September 30; for other platforms it is
October 31. This includes both server and client.

We're attempting a point-in-time recovery of our ADSM Database.
ADSM Release is at Version 3 Release 1 Level 2.50, running on platform OS390
Level 2.10.
The recovery is through batch JCL:

Collocation then occurs on a go-forward basis only, which is to say that
previous storage pool data continues to sit as-is,

Just enable collocation on stgpool .i.e update stgpool poolname
collocation=yes
pl see help .
Just wait for some time it gets done automatically.
Then when re claim starts it will free non collocated tapes to respective
tapes assigned for collocation
ie tapes for each node seperately.

Perm-A-Store makes Turtle cases for 3570 tapes.
We have several and they work fine.
Try www.turtlecase.com.
Anyone know of a non intensive way to move a large storage pool from being
non collocation to using collocation.
Thanks

Richard,
PPRC is a true copy of the original (at least that is how it is supposed to
be) thus partially written files will be partial writhed files on the PPRC
copy too. I suggest that you use TSM mirroring (I assume you use the ESS in
RAID 5).

exact same thing. Good news no problems that we can attribute to that.
We have moved to 3590 carts and no longer have the concern.

As a global affector, you could try playing with the THROUGHPUTTimethreshold
server option, specifying a high THROUGHPUTTimethreshold value, which your
clients could not possibly achieve, thus causing any client session lasting
more than THROUGHPUTTimethreshold minutes to be cancelled automaticall
