Hi,
we had the same problem in our environment restoring large files.
The problem was a buffer overflow in TCPIP (MVS) happening every max
sequencenumber.
Instead of beginning with zero again the tcp session dropped.

Have you considered backupsets? Copy pools get fragmented, backupsets are
more portable (only need TSM client and compatible media technology, but
they're somewhat slow on full-volume restore), image/logical-volume backup
strategy (for fastest restore of file-served volumes)...

Hi All
I am (finally!) preparing to upgrade from ADSM 3.1 to TSM 4.1 and am
slightly overwhelmed by the choices available. My current plan is as
follows:
Server (Windows NT)
Currently 3.1.2.40 upgrade to 4.1.0.0 then to 4.1.3.0
Windows NT clients
Currently 3.1.0.7f2 upgrade to 4.1.2.12

One sorta way: Caching, in a storage pool hierarchy.
Otherwise: Backup Stgpool.
But I think we'd like to hear what your requirements are
to better advise.

Lisa,
I go through this as well. It doesn't seem to matter how many you
order either. I have ordered shipments of 30 and 750 and both take the
same amount of time. I wonder if more than one company will be making the
3590 tapes with 384 tracks.

Yes, I was told two weeks ago that there was a 9-12 week wait. If it is now
8-10 weeks, there must be some improvement. I am also told that the reason
is the popularity of the product. A simple supply and demand issue. Hope the
manufacturer(s) can ramp up some additional capacity quickly.

hi Clemens,
It depends on the application using the API. TDPO 2.1 doesn't send such
information to the TSM server. There is nothing you can do to see
information like what b/a client sent to the server. We've just released
TDPO 2.2 which sends some information like what you are looking for.

Geoff, under aix you only use
lsitab (to list inittab)
chitab (to change the inittab)
mkitab (to make a new inittab entry)
and
rmitab (to remove an inittab entry)
every time one of these commands alters the inittab it is fully "refreshed"
